On Friday, May 5th Ms. Andrana Lee, CIS Site Coordinator,  collaborated with Ms. Campbell and Mr. Sutton’s culinary arts classes to take Independence High School students on a field trip/college tour of The Art Institute of Charlotte.

Students participated in a brief cooking lesson, toured the campus and were provided with information about the free dual enrollment program.

Indy students listen to the information interactive session.

“The field trip was very informative. I really enjoyed the informational session when students learned about opportunities to get college credit for free while enrolled in high school” Mrs. Lee said regarding the trip. The field trip helped students learn about The Art Institution opportunities on how to get college credit while still in high school.

This field trip was also an opportunity for students to explore The Art Institute as a future school. “I believe the field trip was a great opportunity for students to explore options for college” says Mrs. Lee.

According to Ms. Lee, the earlier high schoolers start their progress for college, the better they’ll be prepared for college.
