For the rising seniors at Independence High School, junior year is coming to an end and senior year is quickly approaching. With the help of the Big I Declaration, the class of 2017 divvied out a little advice for the class of 2018.

Seniors of 2017 know that the summer is the best time to get prepared for senior year. Walter Bates, a senior at Independence says to “remain active” such as getting involved with new people and events that will potentially aid in their senior year and the college applications process. This could also include the service learning component of juniors’ upcoming graduation project presentation.

Many rising seniors have been saying that they are so excited for their senior year but aren’t clear what to expect. Jakael Bennett a current senior stated that he recommends “creating a game plan and being open to new things and ideas.” He also wants the class of 2018 to always remember to “stay true to themselves.”

Jesus Kuri, a current senior suggests that all rising seniors realize that their four years will be up soon so they must “stay focused and finish strong.” Rising seniors should be ready to graduate but also ready and prepared for the amazing senior year that comes first.

Emma Joles, a current junior/rising senior says “trying to keep [herself] motivated through senioritis,” is going to be her biggest challenge. All rising seniors have different views as to what their senior year is going to bring but they are excited for their four years to finally come to an end.
