Graduation Project presentations April 5-7 in the Media Center marked the end of the senior project for graduating 12th graders. Seniors have been preparing for a long time and were ready to present to get it over with. The Graduation Project is something that seniors have been anticipating and is very nerve wrecking year after year.

The Graduation Project consists of many different parts, which is why it’s so nerve wrecking. During English junior year, students start the project and complete the essay portion of the project. The essay has to be five to six pages and includes a graph, a Works Cited page and at least five recent sources.

The following year, students complete the product portion. The product is a representation of your topic. The product has to be something that you can touch. Many seniors stressed about these requirements, but most succeeded.

On presentation day, the Media Center calls the class up and the students will sit outside in chairs waiting until they call their names into their appointed review board. The review board consists of three judges.

Malik Johnson is a senior at Indy and was one of the many that succeeded under the intense stress and procrastination. His presentation was April 5th at 9:10. “I’m such a perfectionist. That was the reason why I was so nervous. I knew how hard I worked and it was hard to walk into the Media Center knowing that it could go two ways.”

The seniors will receive their scores two weeks after they present. That means next week, seniors will be finding their fate when the results come in.
