This June a group of Independence students will be taking a trip to Europe to tour three countries; Spain, Italy, and France. The trip will be as twelve days and three days of travel to go through these countries to get an experience of a lifetime.

The trip begins when the group flies into Madrid for the first exciting days of travel and a night of Flamenco dancing, but stay in Spain till day 5 which will be spent in Barcelona. The next stops after that are Provence, the French Riviera and Florence where the next 4 days will be spent. Then the trip wraps up in Rome where the last 2 days of the trip will be spent.

One senior going on the trip Phillip Thornton says “I’m excited to go and see new places and scenery.”

The trip is being put on by teachers of the language department and other teachers with experience overseas who would like to show the same amazing time that they have had with their students. There are four chaperones for this trip: Ms. Hayes, who teaches French and is at the helm of this trip; Ms. White, who is known for being the head of the student exchange trips to Argentina and teaching Spanish at the school; Ms. Dayhuff, the editor of the wonderful Big I Declaration and English teacher, and last but not least; Mr. Overcash, whom you’re probably familiar with, a science teacher at the school.

If you’re interested in this trip there’s always room for more. Make sure you go see Ms.Hayes out in trailer MC108 and let her know you’re interested.

This trip has been in planning for well over a year now so the excitement and build-up has been unreal, but luckily for those who are unable to attend this trip, in the summer of 2017 there will be yet another European tour trip very much like this one. The 2017 trip, however, will be headed by none other that Ms. Dayhuff. For more information, see Ms. Dayhuff in room 135 in the middle of the first crosshall downstairs.
