After the recent snow days, students are talking about whether or not it is fair that the students must have makeup snow days.

CMS originally rescheduled the make up day for February 15, but since the freezing rain threat caused school to be canceled for students on that day, CMS has officially announced the make up snow day is now May 27.

N.C. state testing is one of the reasons why the district needs makeup days. The state must find ways to work around the re-arranged schedules to keep up with the curriculum.

Coach Raber said “It’s very important to make up snow days because as a teacher we’re limited to the amount of days we get to spend with our students.” Raber also stressed the importance of having make up days because of the amount of days necessary to teach the curriculum.

While some students are upset that we continue to have school others are excited. As usual, there are pros and cons to school being canceled for students. Some of those pros and cons are listed below:

Pros

Sleeping in

Relaxing

Catching up on homework

Spending time with family

Cons

Make up snow days

Missing school

Communication of new schedules

Risk of losing electricity, power, and water

Not being able to leave home for necessity

No doubt snow days are always an exciting announcement for teachers and students, but just because the Patriots get a break right now, they do have to make up for it later.
