Independence Basketball is putting their stamp on the 2015-2016 season. Being number 1 in conference out of 6 schools is not only impressive but very exciting for Independence students and especially the players. Not only are they one of the best teams locally, but they have recently been added to the Sweet 16, a list made up of the best 16 teams in Charlotte!

With the whole team eager to be the official “Conference Champs,” they have been practicing long and hard almost every day after school. “The workouts in and out of school just make us better and make us want to be the best even more. We all share the love for basketball and the itch to succeed,” says 6’’10’ junior Justyn Hamilton.

Hamilton is currently sitting on 8 college offers, but he is staying focused on his team for right now and hasn’t made any verbal commitments yet. “We’re like brothers, the feeling of bringing Independence Basketball back to the limelight is such a fantastic feeling and achievement,” Justyn says speaking for the whole team.

This past season they brought their talents to the table and are ready to conquer their division once and for all! The 18-5 Patriots are very excited for their final game and the conference championship this Friday night against our biggest rival, the Butler Bulldogs! It is sure to be a great game. Tickets are available at the door and the varsity game starts at 7:30.
